That’s how the Christmas carol goes anyway..

Is that really our experience of life? Most of the people I see are more stressed, overwhelmed and run-off their feet at this time of year than at any other.

In addition, a recent statistic on the BBC’s ‘Doctor in the House’ quoted 2/3 of adults in Britain say they are more stressed now than they were 5 years ago.

However, when asked, most people will say that what they want for the year ahead is ‘to be happy’.. yet many people don’t have any strategy for nurturing happiness in their day to day lives.

Leaders from the fields of personal and spiritual development cite that nurturing gratitude is a potent antidote to stress and advocate a daily practice to help re-set our focus. After all, it is impossible to have any sense of wealth (for example) without an appreciation for what we already have.

As we enter this festive time of year, whatever your plans, pressures or parties, spend some time nurturing a sense of gratitude. Take a moment to reflect on 3 things you could I be grateful for. Notice the feeling inside, let it expand and grow, now take that feeling with you as you enjoy the holidays.

Wishing you all the very best for a bright and lively Christmas holiday and healthy and joyful start to the New Year.

Dave
